Standing With Those Who Serve
Supporting men and women in uniform and their families is one of Tom White's top priorities. In 2007, he introduced the Military Family Leave Act (LB 497, 2007), which provided much-needed work flexibility for the families of Nebraska National Guard members. The bill passed the Legislature unanimously and was signed into law on April 5, 2007.
This session, Senator White introduced legislation to waive tuition at the University of Nebraska, state colleges, and community colleges for veterans injured in the line of duty. He is also sponsoring legislation that would enter Nebraska into the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children - a key component in supporting military families as they move from base to base.
